"Decide that you like college life. In your dorm you meet many nice people. Some are smarter than you. And some, you notice, are dumber than you. You will continue, unfortunately, to view the world in exactly these terms for the rest of your life." – How To Become A Writer by Lorrie Moore

Inevitably, I developed a new philosophy for humankind in general: adults were just big kids, and kids were just little adults. They had different toys in their disposal, and they got by with what they had. Those with too many toys are bound to get cocky, and those with too little have to work harder to get them. It's all on principle. It also depends on the crowd.

I'm really really glad the power's back on.

For a reason that is completely unknown to me, some jerk decided to run into a pole, and for a few hours, 11 houses (includind mine) had no power.

During the day everything was fine, but since it's that time of year when it gets darker earlier, we were SOL.

After a trip to the grocery store, we decided to take a nap - because we couldn't do much else.

I woke up first, and walking around the house made me feel very afraid, especially with no lights, only candles to serve as illumination. Once I started up the stairs, the electricity came back. Then all was well.

Phew.

Have you seen New Moon? If so, how do you think it compared to the book? Was it better or worse than Twilight? Please, no spoilers!

I saw New Moon this past Friday. I will definitely say that the movie was better than the book - a lot better. I think that's probably because Bella was complaining and whiny a lot in the book and we as readers had to take it in order to read on and get to the parts that actually develop the plot, whilst in the movie they did a great job (or should I say Kristen Stewart) of internalizing all of the feelings that Bella had and making them real without having to listen to a lot of whining. I would say movie-wise, New Moon was way better than Twilight.

I'm merely a silent Sheherezade who can't move anyone's heart.
No matter how many nights pass, I can't talk about even one love.
I couldn't even get used to warmth. Where did the bedtime story disappear to?
I wanted to at least remember your gentle words.

I wish I could heal people.

I wish I could heal people who are afraid, scared out of their minds, unsure of what their futures are.

I wish I could heal my family and my friends' hurts.

I wish I could do more for them than I already can.

I wish I knew the right words to say/type to someone who may be nearing suicide.

I wish I could do everything I wanted to.

I wish I had more time to do it in.

I wish I could heal my own hurts.

But I know I need time in order to do so.

Even though most of the time humans take the world they live in for granted, there are many ways in which the world can take the humans for granted as well. They depend upon one another to survive. Based on recent studies on the environment, apparently humans aren’t doing their fair share. But it is to be expected. According to the analyses of the late psychiatrist Sigmund Freud, humans are naturally selfish creatures with only his/her ideals in mind. He is allowed to be pessimistic.

Fall Play

It was once said by psychologist Alfred Alder that humans “aren’t the bravest of creatures.” They don’t want to face their fears; so instead, they hide from them, wishing that they would go away within time. They blame others for their mistakes, so those who were blamed would face it for them, out for the others’ cowardice. After all, things change after a period of time. But not always.

This is shown very well in the play “The Rimers of Eldritch”, which was written by the playwright Lanford Wilson. He wrote this play in a time where many were experimenting with what they would do with plays and how they were presented. He plays heavily with the concept of human nature, saying that not all people are how they appear to be. And it is the challenge for the actors to be able to portray this in the way Lanford Wilson intended, even though we may never know what Wilson’s intentions really were.
